Pep Guardiola concerned with bad vibes ahead of Shakhtar Donetsk clash
Guardiola warns Barcelona he fears a loss coming on against Shakhtar unless his team play to perfection in Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-finals…
Pep Guardiola has admitted he is not as confident as he usually is ahead of Barcelona’s Champions League quarter-final clash against Shakhtar Donetsk as strange feelings seem to have unsettled the normally optimistic coach.
His worries comes just days after claiming his future at Camp Nou beyond 2012 was far from certain.
“It’s a strange situation and I don’t have any good sensations. It seems as if I am more outside than inside in terms of the knock-out round,” he told the press.
“For the first time in a long time I do not like what I see. Before a team would win games by a big margin, now it’s just 1-0. This is a sign.”
Shakhtar have always proved stern opposition, and the coach expects a real hard slog.
“Believe me they are a super team and they deserve credibility. They have a great side and one of the best winger’s in the world. Their coach was coaching when I was playing,” he added.
But, despite feeling weak, Guardiola is trying to evoke a tug of support from the Blaugrana faithful.
“It’s nice for the fans to think we can go all the way, but without them we will not,” he said.
“You cannot win these games without the support of everyone and we are usually stronger with the fans behind us at home.”
