Strike for Dignity in the Dar’aa province, respectively. Even given the
disconnection of electricity, continuous arrests and murders by the
regime, and the residents continue to participate in the Strike around
Dar’aa and mobilize demonstrations calling for the fall of the regime.
The Arab League monitors are now in Dar’aa and conducting interviews
with some of the residents. The following is a video of an interview
with a man whose body was shot up and eyes were removed by the regime’s
forces because he dared to walk in the street…an action now deemed a
crime by the Assad regime, and an old woman who lost her son to the
regime. The video is a little over 12 minutes long:

TUESDAY:
• The regime’s forces carried out a campaign of arrests and raids in
the town of Jassem on Tuesday. The following people are confirmed
arrested:
o Muhammad Salah Aljibawi
o Muhammad Abderaheem Naseerat, 20 years of age
o Azo Abu Rashdan
o Qasem Naseerat, who is 65 years of age
o Yahya Naseerat (son of Qasem above, 20 years of age)
• In the town of Jassem, the raids carried out by the regime’s forces
affected many homes, but the regime’s forces did not stop with just
arrests. In the home of Khaled Abdelatif, when they found no one but
women and children in the home, they ate everything edible in the
kitchen. When they raided the home of Qasem Naseerat, they stole a total
of 2,500 dollars which people had left in the care of Mr. Naseerat.
• Heavy gunfire was reported in the town of Jassem on Tuesday at the
same time of the funeral of one of the residents in order to terrorize
the residents following the funeral procession. Heavy gunfire was also
reported on and off in the towns of Namar, Asanmeen and Khirbet Ghazala
on Tuesday.
• A loud explosion was reported in the town of Tal
Shehab on Tuesday near Wadi Zaizoon, which is close to the
Syrian-Jordanian border.
• A large number of defected soldiers were reported in the town of Ma’haja on Tuesday.
• The regime’s forces raided the town of Ghabagheb on Tuesday and
proceeded to place checkpoints at all entrances and exits to the town.
• Ahmad Alawda, an engineer born in Nawa, was arrested by security
forces as he was on his way to work in Dar’aa on Tuesday. His car was
destroyed by the regime’s forces a few days ago for no apparent reason,
and this is the third time he has been arrested.
WEDNESDAY:
• On
Wednesday, the regime’s forces moved all prisoners, cleaned the
prisons, and replaced the prisoners with employees of the government.
The regime’s forces then took the Arab League monitors to visit the fake
prisoners.
• Snipers were reported on the rooftops in the town of
Dar’aa on Wednesday, and they shot at mourners walking in a funeral
procession. Heavy gunfire was also reported throughout the day in the
Asabeel neighborhood of the town.
• Muhammad Ma’an Al’hassan, a
third year medical student from the town of Tafas, was arrested by the
regime’s forces in Lattakia; however, there is very little information
about the circumstances of his arrest or the military security branch
which arrested him. It is very well-known that this young man has no
involvement in any activities other than his constant studying.
•
Musa Almustafa Abu Rafi, 41 years of age, was arrested in the town of
Asahwa from his home, after the regime’s forces raided the town and
subsequently vandalized many homes in the process, including that of Mr.
Abu Rafi and his father.
• Two young men from the town of Asheikh Miskeen were reported arrested:
o Muhammad Bahjat Ayaqub, a student in the University of Aleppo, and
the news did not reach his family till today, although he was arrested
five days ago.
o Fadeel Awad Alhussein, whose brother is the martyr
Amjad Alhussein, was arrested on his way to Lebanon at one of the
military checkpoints.
• Almaseefra was especially occupied by the
regime’s forces on Wednesday – they raided the town, fired guns
indiscriminately, and generally terrorized the residents. The following
are among those confirmed arrested:
o Adnan Aljabr
o Abdelbaset Alhamdan and his son
• Heavy gunfire was reported in the town of Inkhil, and residents whose
shops were closed because of the Strike for Dignity were threatened by
the regime’s forces, who proceeded to vandalize and destroy any shops
which were closed.
• Basel Muhammad Al’hariri from the village of
Bosr Al’hareer was arrested by the regime’s forces as he was returning
from a nine month trip to Kuwait.
• Basel Muhammad Al’atma from the town of Asanmeen was arrested from his place of work and taken to an undisclosed location.
• Heavy gunfire has been reported repeatedly in the town of Asanmeen on
this Wednesday, as well as military helicopters flying repeatedly
around the sky above the town. Random and heavy gunfire is reported at
the Asooq and Mafraq Qeeta Checkpoints.
• A big explosion which
shook the town was reported in Khirbet Ghazala, as well as heavy gunfire
particularly concentrated in the southern side of the town.
• The
town of Jabbab was invaded by more than 40 cars and buses full of the
regime’s forces, and they arrested more than 40 people. Random and heavy
gunfire was reported in the town as a result of yesterday’s
demonstration in the town.
• Military planes were heard circulating over the town of Namar on Wednesday.
• The town of Ma’arba was invaded by the regime’s forces on Wednesday, coupled with heavy gunfire.
• It is reported that military reinforcements have arrived in the town
of Almle’ha Asharqiya, and that night-vision binoculars have been
distributed to the various military checkpoints in the town. Arrests
were reported, and the following are those confirmed at the time of this
report:
o Jamal Abdelmawla Qarqamas for an unknown reason
o Ziyad Sulta Al’hamdee, a truck/tractor trailer driver
Martyrs:
• Abdelmonem Ali Ahmad died in Dar’aa on Wednesday after he was wounded
by the security force’s bullets. Heavy gunfire was directed at those
who walked in the funeral procession from the roof of the Abu Bakr
Asideeq Mosque.
Demonstrations:
• Tuesday, January 3, 2012
o Three in Dar’aa; one in Tafas; one in Asora; one in Ana’eema; two in
Da’el; one in Inkhil; one in Ibti’; at least two two in Aljiza; one in
Al’harrak; one in Al’harra; one in Sa’hm Aljolan; one in Ka’heel; one in
Ateeba; one in Naseeb; and one in Khirbet Ghazala. That is a total of
at least 19 reported demonstrations on Tuesday.
• Wednesday, January 4, 2012
o Five in Dar’aa; one in Tafas; one in Sheikh Miskeen; two in Da’el;
one in Almaseefra; one in Inkhil; one in Al’harrak; one in Ateeba; three
in Al’harra; one in Bosr Al’hareer; one in Kafr Shams; one in Jassem;
one in Ana’eema; one in Khirbet Ghazala; one in Alkarak Asharqee; one in
Namar; one in Alyaduda; and one in Algharya Algharbiya. That is a total
of at least 25 demonstrations reported on Wednesday.
